"I love pumpkins!  Some people love apple, gourds or pears, but there's something incredibly sensual about a pumpkin.  Every October I take the family into a huge pumpkin patch and let everyone pick out three or four pumpkins apiece.  Then we take them home and set them around the farm.
One summer we purchased a small dresser for my daughter, Kate, at an antique shop.  the antique dealer said it was made of "pumpkin pine" from the woods of Maine.  I had never heard that term before, and it stuck with me for a couple of years.  Finally, I made this painting." David Armstrong
